{"id":11110,"date":"2026-04-23T08:13:44","date_gmt":"2026-04-23T08:13:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rfpjuganda.org\/?page_id=11110"},"modified":"2026-04-23T08:13:47","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T08:13:47","slug":"cross-border-peacebuilding","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/rfpjuganda.org\/?page_id=11110","title":{"rendered":"Cross border peacebuilding"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>RFPJ\u2019s work and influence extend to Uganda\u2019s districts neighboring the porous Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) including Bundibugyo, Ntoroko and Kasese. Characterizing these border areas are recurrent geo-ethno political conflicts facilitated by the rural nature of the border communities and fragilities in the eastern DRC. The porous nature of the border threatens legitimate trade and movement of people and goods across borders. Further, at the border is Mt. Rwenzori that recurrently provides a safe haven for transterritorial armed groups including the ADF, allowing crimes and violence to thrive. RFPJ contributes to cross border peace, security and trade building among others, on common ancestry of cross border communities, the East African Community (EAC) Treaty and the Common Market Protocol (2010).
