Tuhaise Francis

Mr. FRANCIS Tuhaise has an experience of over 15 years in community development, peacebuilding, Transitional Justice, and conflict transformation work in Uganda. His works have among others been enveloped in; human rights advocacy; managing and coordinating community development programs; conciliating, negotiating, and arbitrating civil disputes; supporting grassroots peace-building work; teaching, and; undertaking research in areas of governance, peace, and conflict management. Before joining RFPJ as an Executive Director in 2012, Francis worked with other civil society organizations in various capacities, served as a Community Development Officer and in other capacities with Kyenjojo District Local Government, taught at Mountains of the Moon University and supervised academic research at Uganda Martyrs’ University in Uganda. Combined, Government, CSO, and University work exposed Francis to the art and practice of human rights promotion, peacebuilding, conflict management, and governance and also, to the nexus between the public and private sector in triggering and sustaining integral societal progress. Francis holds a Master’s Degree in International Peace Studies from the University of Notre Dame, USA; a Master’s Degree in Human Rights and a Bachelor’s Degree in Adult and Community Education from Makerere University in Uganda; a certificate in Administrative Law from the Law Development Centre, Kampala, Uganda and; a Certificate in Foundations in Mass Atrocity Prevention from the Auschwitz Institute for the Prevention of Genocide and Mass Atrocities, USA.
