Community Peacebuilding Advocate

Mr. John Mwesigwa has over 11 years of progressive experience in child protection, adolescent health, and community-based peace building across Uganda and East Africa. He has worked with national and international organizations in technical and leadership roles to design, implement, and scale programs that safeguard children and promote youth empowerment, especially for adolescent girls. Before joining Rwenzori Forum for Peace and Justice in 2024 as a Community Peacebuilding Advocate, John served in key roles including Pediatric & Adolescent Officer at Baylor Uganda, Project Coordinator at Pepal Foundation-UK (Uganda Program), and HIV/AIDS Officer at Action Africa Help International. He also worked as a Social Worker with Nyaka AIDS Foundation. John holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health – Health Promotion from Uganda Martyrs University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling from Kyambogo University. He has received advanced training in humanitarian leadership, gender-responsive programming, and global health management from institutions such as Harvard Humanitarian Initiative, University of Washington, West African Institute of Public Health-Nigeria, and Aga Khan University.
